We have a new lake near my hometown in west tn. It has been stocked for 3 years or so. It has just been opened to fishing. Any idea what the average size of a 3 year old crappie would be?

you live by canepole ????
Depends on waters and several other factors such as stocking size. Should be atleast 10'' Crappie.
10 inches!
it depends on what type of feed they have on the size they would be in three years.
If they make their living eating Shad, then I think you'd be surprised at how fast they'll grow. Was at a seminar once held by Todd Huckabee and he talked about the growth of Eufaula crappie and although I can't remember his exact quotes, the growth rate was really amazing if Crappie have quality forage available. You might want to contact him and ask him about it. I would think that a 3 year old crappie would be larger than 10 inches if they have good food available.
Normal average is ten inches at 3 years!
Big difference I growth rates form black or white crappie...do you know which was stocked?
