Anyone know by marking my line with a sharpie how long it will last? I can't afford line counters, or metered line, but I can afford a sharpie pen.
I guess mark em 50' 75' 100' 125', maybe in 4 or 5 foot sections. Would this work pulling cranks?

Anything you can do to consistent duplicate your distance will work. Have used small bobber stopper with good success too
I use some thin braid and tie my own bobber stop. It goes through guides better.
A little drop of nail polish or super glue will keep it where it should be.
Did just what you are wanting to do until I got some reels. it dont last very long so keep one in your boat with you. Just keep your eyes out someone will have a good deal on some
I have a few noodles that I can adjust the depth and is spooled with white nylon trotline cord. Marked depths in different colors. After a while the colors soak into other areas.
