Short creek visit
I fished for about an hour this morning at my local mill creek .
When I got there around 10:15 , no one was there.
The creek was low and has been for awhile , but I had hopes my little handtied jig could pull something out of there .
I lost two jigs fishing a seam that usually produces .
I moved upstream to the big pool and my casts were almost making it to the current coming off the rocks .
People started showing up , sightseers mostly . Two couples were letting their dogs run free , on shore and splashing around in the water. :( .
I was about to give up and felt something heavy on my 6’ St Croix Avid UL . I paired it today with a Daiwa Legalis Lt 1000s , black and gold one , spooled with Varivas braid and Silver Thread leader . I’d broken off my Floroclear leader .
What I thought might be a shellcracker or maybe a shoal bass turned out to be a nice size creek largemouth.
I moved up next to the dam trying to get away from the sightseers and caught two small gills and decided to leave to go to lake McIntosh which is less than 15 minutes away .
It was a beautiful day , sunny , low 70’s by the time I went to pickup lunch before the UGA football game started .
I was skunked at the lake but fished another rod combo and found out some things about it I needed to know .
I’m always tinkering with my tackle , looking for the perfect combo , knowing it doesn’t exist . :)
