Echomap / ActiveCaptin / Navionics - SO Confused

Hello all,

I was delighted to find this group and today is my first day as a member.

I've returned to the world of boat ownership and fishing after a couple of decades away. WOW! Things have changed a bit. Please be kind to the old man as I ask questions.

I have an EchoMap 73SV at the Console and EchoMap 93 SV with Livescope at the bow. Both say that they come with Navionics. I have used ActiveCaptain to upgrade the software on both. I've frequently used the Navigation and Fishing maps. While poking around in ActiveCaptain I see options to download Raster and Relief Shading. Both give warnings that they will use "significant amounts of storage on my device."

So, are they worth it? If I download it to my smart phone can I then update to my devices on board?

I would think your best bet would be to get the Lakeview g3 ultra west SD card. I don't think you can download straight to the unit.
