Default Jig mold with barb collar and without

In my great wisdom, l bought a mold with the barbed collar, thinking l could just cut the collar off when wanting jigs without collars. When l cut the collars off the lead head get loose. I can make pill heads, out of them,by mashing in my vise. How do the molds, with no collar, keep heads from getting loose? Thanks, Don

Well for one thing, the heads are larger. Should be larger.

I have molds where if I snap the sprue off, the head gets loose. So I cut them off with gate cutters.

If you want to add eyes, I recommend getting a mold that already has flat sides. Otherwise I would simply paint eyes on.
Maybe they will bite this one……

lay them on the table after you cut off the collar and whack em once with a hammer , works ok, but in the end , the fish could care less if the head is loose best I can tell

I use a harder lead, 95% lead 5% antimony, and when I pour I insert the spout tip of the lead pot directly into the gate of the jighead cavity. When removing jighead from cavity in carful not to rock the hook back and forth. With the harder lead this really isn’t an issue but with soft lead you need to be careful.
