    Default Greenhorn here

Had the interest for years and now have time on my hands to get into jig making.
What jig heads are most commonly used with panfish for plastic baits,
and Crappie. Or are they most commonly tied? Same with bass. All for lake fishing.

Most popular sizes are 1/32, 1/16, then 1/8th. Some use 1/4 at times for trolling or deep water work. Hook sizes are all over the place from #6 on up. I prefer #2 sickle hooks myself. I mostly use 1/32 for most of the fishing I do

What he said. I use a lot of 1/16 hand tied jigs with #4 hook or #6. If using plastics 1/32 with #4 hook.

I use 1/32 and 1/16. If you're buying do-it molds, get the pro mold. You can pour 7 at one time. Also, I like the molds with no collar.

In yall experience is it worth it to pour your own or buy in bulk? Secondly what hooks are the best to look for?

It really depends on what kind of volume you plan on doing. I own a tackle company and sell a lot of jig heads and hand ties. The savings is worth it for me. If I were tying for just myself I probably wouldn't fool with pouring my own. It can be a pain sometimes.Name: 20220415_100541_0000.jpg
