Fluid bed issues
Probably something I'm not doing right. I made some fluid beds and they didn't work. The powder paint just got holes in them, volcano I think it's called. I bought 2 from a supplier, recommended on here. They do the same thing. I've tried more air, less air, shaking, more powder paint, less powder paint, lot of bad words but all l get is more paint on my hands, clothes and in my shop. I'm using Pro-tec powder paint. Have tried several colors. What's the trick? Thanks, Don

Less flow on beds and longer time to fluidize. Patience my son.

How many fluid beds are you trying to run at one time? Everytime time you add a fluid bed to the same air pump. You will need to keep adjusting the air pressure to the previous bed. Because your lessing the air pressure to the bed that you already set. Probably takes me 10 or so minutes to adjust my beds. With a few tweaks after I start powdercoating. I also have to give each bed a good stir when I first turn on the air to the beds.
If drop a jig and it sinks to the bottom of the bed. That's s a good starting point of fluidity.

Paints are all different as far as texture too,,,some is really easy to use and others seems to be clumpy if you don’t mix it well or use enough air,,,very touchy stuff,,,

You can also add clear to the color to help flow better and get more mileage out of your colors.

What brand of paint are you using? I agree about the clear. anything from harbor freight needs thinned.
