    Default My monsters

I have gotten the hang of pouring these beasts finally. These are 1/2 ounce on Mustad 32833 5/0 hook and VMC 7152 barbarian 4/0.
Only have about 200 more to pour and I will be painting and then the fun part, tying up some monster catching jigs. The barbarian hook is a sharp little beast for sure.

I know they have some wrinkles but there isn't much I can do about that. Once in a while I get a really nice clean one but my hands don't work to pour them smooth enough most of the time. Most of it will cover with paint, powder paint not as clean but a vinyl paint would really clean them up and smooth them out. I don't know if I want to switch to vinyl but these heavy jigs get beat up quick and chip the powder pain off so it might be the better choice.

Oh, I did figure out why the barbarian wasn't pouring well at times. The hook is so long it was touching the table and pushed the hook forward pulling the eye into the head part of the mold.

I'll have to tie a couple up before getting them all poured. I can't wait myself to see how they look all dressed up!

fish-4-any if I may as I pour up to 1 oz. The bigger the jig the faster the lead needs to flood the cavity. If you go slow and steady so you don't too much lead you will get the separation lines. I don't really worry about them on my jigs, I think that is more about being picky as to what they look like naked (before painting) than how the fish respond to them. Jigs look great.

My hands don't cooperate to do a quick pour, well my entire body doesn't I have muscle tremors and have to pour with 2 hands to control it. Doesn't bother me, just trying to figure out how to make em look nice to sell some of them.

I'll powder coat some this week to see how it covers, doubt most fishers will care much here as long as they catch fish.
