Default Mustad Sickle Hooks are Huge!

Anyone else notice the mustad sickle hooks are bigger than everyone else's? I've only got eagle claw and a few matzuo's to compare to, but the #8 and #6's are definitely bigger. Anyone got any insight on this?

Yes they are bigger. The #4s arent to bad. I am not sure If i have seen any of the #2s yet. Heck I may have some and havent opened the box yet. The the #6 is way bigger I actually like the eagle claw #6 better

EC #6's seem to have a narrower gap than most other sickle hooks I've seen - weird because I only notice it in the #6, not the #4 or the #8. Also, the wire diameter is a little lighter than I really like. Wish their were more options for these little sickle hooks.

I hadn't tried the #8 as most of the time the smallest I use is a #6

6 was my smallest hook for a long time. I went to 1/64 head and a black chrome #8 with good success. When they’re being cagey and tentative on the bite you might lose a few when it’s in the thin skin around the mouth. Most times they hit the smallls with abandon and I have to get the foreceps to reach where it’s connected. Not for everyone but I’ve had some fish that were just over 2lbs on that #8 and 2lb test. A whole new world of fun. The 3 1/2lb catfish didn’t come loose either.

I like the small ones, I even got some #10 sickles that I really like. This last summer the fish at my local pond weren't interested in anything over a #6.

no split shot, just the jig head - usually 1/64th
