    Default Hook substitute for gamakatsu?

I have this mold. Round Head Jig - Gamakatsu Hooks.

We fish current and rip-rap at tail races. We fish deep often bouncing the rocks. We lose lots of jigs. Lately, I have been hooking into large and unknown species of fish. They fight for a while but eventually straighten the lil nasty hooks in heavy current.

I need a stronger hook less likely to straighten. I could go with the gama's if needed but would like to go with a cheaper option due to lost jigs in the rocks.

    Suggestions?

4, 2, 1, 1/0, 2/0... as you know, hook size varies with manufacturer. I mostly use 4 through 1 in the lil nasty but they have a wide gap.

Try the Mustad 2x strong the use for salmon flies....its harden but aint cheap....but she wont bend either....and I would say what you are hooking is flathead cats...they love the rocks this time of year as they are nesting....good luck on your hook hunt....
