    Default Powder paint

Hopefully y’all can give me some help here. I’ve started powder painting jig heads for personal use but my blue and purple colors are coming out more black. I’m using a heat gun to heat them up and dipping them then heating back up to cure them. Watched a few videos but still keep getting the same outcome. Help please!

Getting them to hot. Need to cure in toaster oven. Het with heat gun about 2 inches above heat element to a count of 4 and dip. When you pull it out if it’s still powdery looking just wave over heat a second or 2 for it to start to glosss over. Then pull it back and let cool. I sit a coffe cup of water next to me and as soon as they gloss I dip and cool. Then you will see true color. After that first one just add one or two counts to how long you hold it in the heat. 6 to 8 usually works best for me. Then if the boss will let you use her oven, take them in hang on a rach separating them a little, spread a piece of tinfoil under them just in case you get a drip. Then bake at 325 for 30 minutes. That should solve your problem.

    I've been using a $19 toaster oven.

I lay a bunch of jigs in a foil covered tray and heat to around 315-325 on the dial. After I dip a few if its too hot or cool I can adjust and be perfect, its great!

I started out heating them in a foil pie pan and it's more hassle than it's worth. Get yourself a dual heat heat gun and do them one at a time - yeah you have to get used to how long to heat them but once you have it down you can fly through them!!

I use a small propane torch set to the smallest cone I can get to heat heads for dipping. Rotating them with needle nose pliers just outside blue flame for a few seconds. It takes a bit of practice but if you don't burn the garage down or drip hot lead on your foot you can knock them out fast.

That’s what I was doing was candy blue and candy purple. Everything else was good except those. They looked black with some flake.
