Been told you can put blue masking tape on it to prevent it but I haven't tried!

Another suggestion, some people scoff at this every time I post it but here is what I do. I go to an electronics store and purchase sticks of heat shrink tubing that will just fit over your swivel. I sit and cut sections that are just longer than the swivel, slide a section over swivel, place it just close enough to heat source( I use heat gun) to get tubing to shrink. Then heat, paint, dip cool and hang on rack. Once I have a bunch done I just use a old small pocket knife to cut off tubing and clean eye. When done properly no paint residue on swivel and a lot easier than wrapping tin foil or tape.

Yup what I do. After I hold the hook with my hand and heat the head I transfer jig to a pair or pliers and hold by the eye. The paint can easily be scrapped off the hook with you finger nails. I dip my swivel quickly in water so that the paint doesn’t stick to the swivel.
