Default Lee production pot shocking me

I have a Lee production and it has started shocking the snot out of me. All the wires look ok. Any one have any suggestions on how to fix it? Or do I need to trash it?

Have you checked to see if the heating element is shorting to the metal?

Check the wires where they go through that plastic bushing at bottom of case before they go up to thermostats. Insulation could be broke down shorting to case. Other than that you have wire to thermostat, jumper to coil and one wire from cord to coil. Check all those connections for being tight and make sure thermostat hasn't turned where it can touch the case.

I found that all I had to do is turn the plug around in the outlet. That solved the problem. Boy did I feel dumb.

That is only a Band-Aid. You still have an unsafe condition that needs to be corrected. You shouldnít be able to get a shock with the plug connected in either direction.

Are you dealing with a two prong outlet ?

If so you are putting a lot at risk including your life
The Three prong outlet allows for a ground connection wire
which sounds like you may be lacking

Two wire outlets were a problem
if ground was an issue due to frayed or broken wire
you would become the ground which sounds like what you are experiencing

Be Safe and invest in a tester may save a life

No I have a grounded outlet. But I just built this shop so I'm guessing somewhere between the main panel and the sub panel there is a ground issue. I am only having issue with the pot nothing else is grounding out.

I agree that thereís a short somewhere thatís arcing to the pot. When you touch it, you are completing the circuit to ground and thatís why you are getting shocked. You need to find that short or 86 the pot
