Personally I like my homemade alcohol burner. Every time I use a heat gun somehow I burn the snot out of my self, and I some times paint 400-600 heads. The burner is just easier for me. No fluid bed.

    Seems everyone has their favorite
what works best for a Good outcome

I have used both and still do
each may have their draw backs
    yet in turn,
both can produce some Good Looking Jigs

Use heat gun. Have gone full circle. Heat gun, torch, IPA burner then back to heat gun. I use the yellow Wagner unit from Home Depot with the digital temp control. Have it at 45 degree angle... just in case I get too hot and melt lead off.

I use a heat gun very similar to 2boatjoe's. When I was doing saltwater stuff it was critical. Now it's only UL stuff but I still like using it.
Hardly ever single coat - do mostly 3 & 4 colors with brushes - so have to do some re-heating.

Junglejim uses a lighter! His volume and work is way up there. And he doesn't cure...
