Food for thought. When i bought my 1442 Alweld with an open deck space, meaning no center seat, i took it to a very good welder and had a 3/16” thick by 2” wide auminum strip welded on the inside of the gunnel full length of the boat with welds about 12” apart.
Reason was so i can install Driftmaster type rod holders anywhere i want by drilling a hole in that strip.
Welder told me that it strengthened the sides of the boat also which wasent necessary in my case.
But, would that being done to this boat allow for the easy removal of the center seat? I think yes.
