Hopefully Chaunc will see this post, and give you some pointers. But for now, are you bank fishing, or in a boat? What methods are you using?

I’ve noticed quite a few good fishermen are having a tougher time getting keepers this season. Mostly because they’re fishing the heck out of one spot they’ve caught fish at for years. Take a closer look at your electronics and you’ll see this last winter drawdown has decimated the cover that was previously there. Even blowdowns that were hot spots for me for ten years are gone. Sitting up on the shore parallel to the shoreline. Not sure how it happened but it did. I fished multiple spots yesterday morning and put a limit of 20 nice crappies in the box. Hang gliding from spot to spot is working for me. Stay on the drop offs. Watch your locator. Fish will be eight to ten foot deep. These are the ones feeding. The earlier you get out, the better the bite. Ninety percent were caught on baby Shad’s and the rest were on twistertails. Keep speed under .5 for results. That’s the best info I can give you. Maybe longlining might work but that’s not a technique I use.

Try long lining trolling, the fish suspend this time of year look at your finder for suspended crappie and bait fish. And try jigs just above fish. I use 1/32 or 1/16 oz. Jigs most fish are 6-12’ deep right now. When hotter water go deeper.

Fished a little bit this morning before the lightning chased me off the lake. The crappies were stacked up suspended in the deep water out from the 12 foot drop off, 11 feet down over 15 fow.. Caught 11 in the first half hour trolling 2 mph. 8 of them were legal all went back.

Were they the white crappies? I’m catching lots of blacks in the wood.
