One of PA's premier panfish lakes, especially for ice fishing, is recovering. In the 70's Tamarack Lake was a prime early ice hot spot. I wonder if it will ever recover fully and once again be a worthy destination.

Very shallow lake. I think the deepest spot was around 15' so it didn't take a lot of cold weather to make safe ice. Weird because it has a damn on each end with a shallow middle. Electric motors only. They have drawn it down twice that I know of and this last draw down lasted a few years.

Interesting article. Hopefully the plan they are implementing will be successful.

So it sounds to me , that gills and crappie, won't be available to catch, till 3 to at least 5 years from now. At least not size wise, provided they put some in this year.

Seems with all new lakes there is a time of nice sized panfish. I hope we see a successful recovery.
