    Default Shenango action today

Shore fished at Shenango today and iced 18 keepers including a 13.5”, 13”, and 12.5” along with some 12”ers. Action was quite steady on white triple tails and pink/white tube jigs. Plus a nibble of course. Enjoyed the fresh air and good action. Saw some boats running around as well on a beautiful day in PA.

I was there too. Had a good quick day. Launched at 9:15 and done by 12. Nice limit of slabs in the box. This is my favorite time to get those big white crappies that roam the basins where you can’t fish in the summer because of the speed boats. Wind is supposed to be up today so I’m taking a break.

Tougher day today with more undersized fish, but Captain Joe and I boated 11 nice keepers including 2 more over 13”. Saw Chaunc at the end and chatted for a few minutes before calling it a day until next time.

Had a good day as I moved often and changed colors frequently to get my fish. Finally found my pattern and put my limit in the box including a 16 inch kicker. It was good talking to and remembering old times with GFT about the old get together we had on Shenango back in the older days. I remember the fillet demonstration with the electric knife. Good times.

Didn’t put it on the scale but it’s a 2 pounder for sure. Maybe a little over. Not uncommon for me at this time of year at Shenango. I’ll probably get a few more before it freezes over there. That’s why I love this lake in the fall.

Thanks for the response. Would a fish that size be mixed in with the smaller ones you caught or would it be a loner? NE Ohio crappie club fished there 9/27 and their lunker was 1.91. Launched at the campground and the parking lot was packed.

Never know for sure unless you use livescope. I’ve caught bigger fish amongst the smaller fish but not often. Big fish like their own space but will move to follow the baitfish when they have too. Livescope is proving a lot of myths to be false. As for the big fish at 1.91, there’s plenty of bigger fish caught in the fall there every year. I’m not the only one that catches them.
