Default What's going on with Bubba Mac's Bait Shop?

Can anyone tell me what is going on with Bubba Mac's Bait Shop. I called there for information and I got a recording that said there hours are 9 to 5 Monday thru Thursday and 1to 5 on Saturday. Why the unusual times. Why are there no hours on Friday and why 1to 5 on Saturday. I would think that Friday and Saturday would be peek business hours. People would want to get on the water early on Saturdays. Can anyone tell me why the odd hours.

Don't have a clue. Guessing that store is near you. You could always go to a Pet Supplies and buy red minnows.

I live in Jefferson County near Brookville. I can buy bait here but I like to buy it near were I'm going fishing. I catch my own night crawlers, mainly for walleye, but I buy minnows. I use plastics to but I like a few minnows in the boat to. It's a hassle to buy them the day before and keep them on a airrator for the trip.

I have seined many minnows as well as buy some. You do not need a aerator if you put your minnows in a Styrofoam bucket or small cooler. Just drop the temperature down a few degrees and they will keep for a week plus. I got some minnows about 2 or 3 weeks ago and they are still lively. Also they suggest to not feed them. There is about 2 dozen in the small cooler and they are doing fine. It was 81 deg. today.

Time to invest in some crappie nibbles and small jigs. It’s a confidence thing tho. If you think that fish won’t hit plastics or hair jigs, you probably won’t fish them right. I rarely even stop at bait shops any more. 1/32 oz jigheads and Shad bait bodies are loading my live well with panfish of all types. Even bass eat them. You can tip them with a small piece of worm too. 6# test line tied directly to the jig fished under a bobber will work just fine casting or drifting. I go to a 1/16 if the wind is up or fishing with a slide bobber in deeper water. Add a split shot a foot above the jig if more weight is needed. You won’t have to depend on live bait once you master using jigs. Have fun and stay safe.

I took a tour of Wilhelm this afternoon. What I could see of the lake I counted 7 boats from the causeway to Sandy Lake.
