Fished today and had a great time but the shallow bite has appeared to slow up. A buddy and I were still catching them shallow but the majority of quality fish have moved out. We ended up trying the majority of the evening in weed bays 5-13 fow without being able to locate them. Gills are on the bed and bass are all over. (gills were huge caught about 10-15). Didn’t keep fish today, but probably tossed a dozen 10-12 inch crappie back to fight another day (From the shallows) and probably caught another dozen shorts. Right before it was time to head in I decided to try deep wood I had marked on my fish finder in 18fow and to my surprise the crappie were on it. The quality wasn’t there (9-10 inchers), but the numbers were. Was really hoping since the shallows were slow, I could find them on weeds, but that didn’t work out. Good luck out there! I think I need to search out more white crappie spawning bays because I couldn’t find them in last years locations!

I fished in Ohio yesterday early morning and put 20 keepers in the box before 10. I got off the water as soon as it started getting hot. Most were post spawn and kinda skinny. Think I’ll do some gillin next time I go out.

Haven’t fished in a week and a half trying to head out Monday. Had the family vacation and work is amping back up. Hoping the lake traffic is slow! Gonna try to get on the deep trees/brush and pull out some fish! I am going to setup and try the chaunc method.. my boat definitely isn’t perfect for hang gliding, but I’m sure gonna try! I will let you know how I do!

I've been wanting to fish but if it isn't chores it's storms. Looking at Monday also. If it is blowing more than I like possibly drag crankbaits. Years passed I've had some luck catching crappie on shad raps and hot 'n tots while fishing deep for walleye. Maybe just shallow it up and give it a try. I have a willingness to learn and adapt. Regardless my jigs and nibbles will be in the boat. Good Luck Stay Safe!

Had a good day thursday at Shenango even tho there were a lot of recreational boats flying around. Finished the day with 19 crappies and 2 big bluegills. Hang glided in 12-14 ft to get most but went shallower and jig and bobber were the ticket. Love seeing that bobber disappear. Got them as shallow as 4 ft too. I’m going to Mosquito this morning. Hope to have another fun day. I’ll use my livescope to find them and stay on them.

I did a week trip at the South Houlston river in Tennessee. We did well on trout. All browns are wild and rainbows are both wild and stocked. This is a prime river to fish for both fly and spin fishing. Hatches almost every day and some very large brown trout. These are not pushover hatchery fish but the real deal.
We fished the Watuga also. It as well as the SoHo is a tail water fishery. It is also used as a power generating source so water levels change from a few inches to a few feet and extremely hard wadding water. This change makes these rivers 2 in one fisheries. It is a 7 hour trip from South Central Pa but well worth it for the serious trout fishermen.

I really love that sort of fishing. Stream fishing for trout was my first choice for 40 years. Wild browns was and still is a dream of mine. Unfortunately due to health I can't wade anymore. Sounds like you had one heck of a nice trip. Well worth the 7 hour drive.

New to forum & can't figure out how to post a new thread/question...

Looking for a jig (pictured). Bought some in Arkansas about 20 years ago, but can't find any like it anywhere.

    Anyone have any ideas?Name: IMG_2314 b.jpg

Go to jig tying forum on the main board. Someone there will be able to make some for you if that company at the bottom of your picture is out of business.
