Congrats on catching some crappie.

If people don't check out, the temp page for Shenango, then they are missing some posts, with pictures from Chaunc. So even if you don't fish the lake, you may be missing out.

Wasn’t me as I didn’t get out today. But yesterday was a different story. Was over at mosquito lake and put a 30 fish limit in the boat in less than 2 hours. Was back home by 9:30. Cleaned them and gave my deceased buddy Rubin’s wife some of them and my niece just came by and got the rest. I’ve still got 3 bags in my freezer. Almost time to hit Erie for some nice walleye fillets. I’ll be good after a couple trips there.

Those walleye should be heating up in Erie within the next week or two. Haven’t fished them this year yet (Typically only target them 1-2 times a year), but with this warmer weather its finally getting water temps up a little. Multiple sources have told me that quick limits should be here very soon. They are getting limits now, but a little more work involved. Smallmouth fisherman are still hitting the occasional walleye while chasing the bass. If you like to shore fish, they are picking up walleye from the piers in the morning and evenings. Not a crazy bite but if you’ve never caught a walleye, give it a shot. I wish the perch would come back!

Fished pymatuning today with a buddy. We managed to catch around 40-45...ended up throwing around 15 crappie and 2 big perch in the cooler for his dinner and a few to freeze for later. A lot of smaller fish, but it was an absolute blast. To my surprise not many blue gills mixed in, but the bass were moving in...Also caught 2 warmouths. Pretty much non-stop action when we located them, they were stacked tight about 4 ft down in 6-7 fow.

It doesn’t get much better than a day like that. Good friend and good fishing makes for a fun time on the water. Glad you guys had a day to remember. Congrats.

Those are some dandy fish, congrats on the catch. What are you calling warmouths? Will assume you mean rock bass. If so, they are great to eat.

They look kind of like a faded sunfish color wise but their mouth and build is like a rock bass.. I caught my first one probably 3-4 years ago and than 2 more yesterday. Their mouth is so strong they make a noise when they bite down. It could be like a hybrid sunfish maybe, I just assumed it was a warmouth. They definitely were not rock bass. We catch our fair share of rock bass off the piers at Presque isle this time of year. Beats me?
