Those went straight to my cousin after I cleaned them. Traded a slab of ribs for them. Haha. I went to Shenango lake today and had the best day of my spring season. Caught over forty five. Culled and kept 18. All 12 and better. My god daughter called and said she wanted some fish. She owns a printing business and has no time to get out with me right now. Said she made me something. I said oh boy, not having a clue what it would be. Nice surprise. Tee shirt and hoodie of my picture in this months Pa Fish and Game magazine.

Those custom shirts are awesome!! And great job on the haul!! I went out this evening with a buddy and we ended up taking home 25 Crappie and 1 perch for the fish fry Saturday! Started off slow this afternoon and picked up towards the end of the night. Started off in shallows with a slow bite (few here and there), moved out and tried 7-15fow trying to locate and only caught a smallmouth.. decided to head back to shallows for the last few hours and picked up prob 30.. they were in the centers of the trees, drove the boat as close as I could and we used 12 ft rods to pick them out of the branches. The fish ranged from 9.5 to 13 being the biggest. The females still had eggs and they were super super soft almost “gushy”. No sure what that means, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen them like that. All the males were still light colored with the exception of one which was definitely in his tuxedo. Was a late night getting home and forgot to take pictures.. headed out tomorrow so will take some tomorrow!

My wife and I fished the weekend around the stumps at Pmy, the crappies really turned on. We didn't get huge numbers if fish, but the size was unbelievable. We kept these ones and released about the same amount. The fish we kept ranged in size from a little over 12 in to the biggest at 15 1/2. It was the same om Sunday, except we caught a small one at 11 in. The scary part is that we did.t catch any little ones, we kind of felt guilty keeping these large ones, but that was the only ones we were catching, We caught them all on minnows.

Nice catch rollingrock! I fished again today and took home 20 for the fish fry caught quite a few shorts and tossed back the bigger females. I think I have enough now!! Size was a little smaller today with the exception on 1 good one. I actually kept it because I was hoping it would give my pb a run for the money. Ended up weighing in at 2lb3oz.. same game plan as yesterday, fishing inside trees and supporting local tackle shops at the end of the day when my gear is all hung up! Some of the females we caught also had that gushy look also. When we filleted them out, the eggs like poured out with watery goo. We thought maybe with this rotten weather they were absorbing their eggs. All the females still had eggs in them

Yea those eggs were definitely weird. Yesterday’s batch I had a few females and the eggs were a little more firm and not slimey. I don’t know for certain but I watched two crappie on a log next to my boat for hours and they would swim and turn sideways like a trout feeds in a river and rub up the log. This would happen for like 1-2 minutes and then return a little higher in the water column.. a little bit later they would do the same thing. This happened all afternoon.. I would be lying to you if I told you I didn’t fish for them lol.. I had them both on but after the first bite they would just move my bait by the tail out of the way and return to the log. They never spooked more then a foot from the log either. I was right on top of them pretty much. If I had to guess I would think she was getting ready to lay eggs or a male was making a bed on the log....or trying... thoughts?

Hit the old watering hole today. Was a little warm outside, but being on the water was quite refreshing. Ended up finding some shade in some overhanging trees and picked out probably 35.. took home 18 in the 10-13 inch range (most were about 10.5-11). Supplied the bachelor party on Saturday with 40 lbs of wings and my entire fish supply. The guys were happyName: F3514829-04F3-4ADF-8AE3-149F1BB3F59F.jpg
