Well unfortunately I couldn’t fish yesterday because the family pet passed, but I did make it out this evening. I ended up keeping a limit of a mixed bag. Caught 7 black crappie up shallow and 13 white crappie in 8-10 fow.. minnows caught the black crappie and monkey milk baby shad topped with a nibble caught the white crappie. Obviously with the storms they called for there were only a few boats out, I did get a few rain drops on me while fishing but it didn’t start until I got back to the ramp.. I got drenched. I will be fishing Saturday, Monday and Tuesday so hopefully the bite picks up more. It was slow in the shallows (it probably would have picked up closer to dark but I moved deeper after about an hour) once the evening progressed the bite out in 8-10 fow got pretty decent. Pymatuning, fishing out of the south end. I’m sure if I went north it would have been easier, but I just don’t like the crowds up that way. I see bait shops posting exact locations sometimes, gets a little to crazy and over crowded for me. I don’t frown upon them posting exact locations what so ever, that’s their livelihood. Just wanted to clarify myself so no one gets mad!!

Captain Joe and I hit Shenango today and iced 22 for a fresh fish fry. The catch was mostly black crappies in 12’ of water with a white Southern Pro Triple Tail + nibble. Others colors were unproductive as were minnows. Fish were on the deep side of the water column. It will be interesting to see how others fared today after Friday’s storms and wind. Looks like a return to rain Sunday and fresh chill Tuesday/Wednesday. So it goes for spring in western PA.

Brother and I fished Wilhelm today over 30 fish but only 8 keepers. Caught most in13 to 17 ft of water on minnows and fuzzy grubs. Tried wax worms and nibbles and they turned there noses on that. Didn't catch what we hoped for but it was a good day on the water.

Went up to the south end of Pymatuning lake Saturday morning in the fog. It’s was a madhouse there. Fog didn’t lift until just before 10 o’clock. Had a few trollers I had to make aware I was anchored as they were getting too close in that fog. No major problem tho. I caught some big female crappies in 14 ft near a drop off to deeper water close by. Got three walleyes too but nothing big enough to keep. The crappies were big. Eleven to fifteen inches. Both black and white were there. Hang glided jigs and nibbles to get them.

I hit pymatuning yesterday evening and it was a complete bust. The wind was coming right down the lake and it was rough! I ended up leaving my trolling motor at home, because I thought man there is no wind at all. I like to drift and cast to locate them, but that wasn’t happening.. I actually had to anchor and couldn’t cover as much ground. I guess that’s the last time I leave the trolling motor at home when I think it’s going to be calm! I only ended up fishing for probably an hour and a half. Headed back out tomorrow and Tuesday to hopefully settle the bad day yesterday!
