Default SE PA Opening Day has been Delayed

Hi all. WVSkip posted a question about a delayed start to the PA Trout Season in certain areas. I just got off the PA Fishing site and WVS is correct. PA is going to a statewide starting day of 4/18 due to COV. AT their site is an alert banner with details - it affects SE PA and a boatload of counties are included. In addition, volunteers are NOT going to be used this year.
I’m inept at posting a link on forums, but easy to google it up. Thanks WVSkip for the heads up, even though the news isn’t great.

That's just not right. People need to get out away from all this virus crap. Guess I'll have to wait till next year to get back to York co. and opening day. Sure do miss it.

Thanks for posting the links, Keith. Crazy times. Two of the grocery stores around here have started special hours for seniors early in the AM.

Crappieday, the reason is because they won't use volunteers to help with the stockings. So it will take them longer to stock all of them, I'm guessing. Also to keep their employees healthy.

But what they are forgetting, is that, they are endangering the fishing people. The one year I went, people were lined up elbow, to elbow, and I'm not lying either. So tell me how this keeps people separated, for their health? Nope, will never go again.

Those are very good points, and I may skip the opener as well. Fortunately the Neshaminy thru Tyler Park is almost all open water with just a relatively short stretch stocked and posted. A short hike/wade up the creek and I pretty much have the water to myself. More peaceful that way.

I can understand every ones concern about changes in the fish commissions policies. However my Wife is sick. Very sick. She has a high fever and can not eat anything and keep it down. It has been 3 days and we are waiting for her doctor to call us back. Anyone who watches the news can see why changes were made in our lives. My suggestion would be skip the opening day so you will not put yourself and others at risk. As a licensed fishing guide this is hurting my business but that is OK. Our personal health and lives are much more important then a little pleasure of the opening day party atmosphere. We will ( should) have plenty of time to go fishing with a more personal experience. Please just consider my thoughts and please be safe.

I don’t do any trout fishing since they stopped stocking my favorite areas. Never cared for opening day as I’d be on the lakes in my boat crappie fishing but enjoyed it later when things died down and were more peaceful. Never cared for that shoulder to shoulder fishing anyway.

AddictedAngle... Hope your wife gets to feeling better. .........This will be my first year not getting a trout stamp or trout fishing. Usually wife and I took our camper to Warren county for at least 2 weeks in April and May. Now the State Parks are closed to camping. It's been 20 years since I fished the first day and called it combat fishing. Just not worth the aggravation and prefer the quiet alone time on the stream. Avoiding coming into close contact with others is my #1 priority. Doesn't matter if it's fishing or grocery shopping. Being in that high risk age I'd love to get about 20 -30 more years out of my lifetime license. I wish you all good health. Be safe on the water or wherever life leads you.
