    Default Shenango Launches

The pool levels posted by S10Chevy are very helpful. At the current low levels, does anyone have any experience launching at the campground or Mahaney launches? My concern would be backing the trailer off the end of the launch. I have never launched with the lake at the current pool level.

No problem at either. If there was a problem, they’d shut it down and post it publicly.

Had to make a trip to Hermitage this morning. On my way home, saw a big bass boat being launched, at the campgrounds. Just be careful, when motoring along. My preference would be the campgrounds, but that is just me.

FYI; The bathrooms aren't open yet, and the docks probably won't go in till late April, or early May.

I would stay away from all the other launches, since the level is so low. Would only use them , if it was only about 4 or 5 ft low.

If you go, please let us know how you do.

GFT, welcome to the site, and the Pa board.

Sounds good. I thought those were the best 2 launches. I am actually boat-less these days, but have 2 buddies also in the retirement life that do and don’t want have either go thru that rough experience of backing off the launch if we get out soon. They both have larger rigs than what my dad and I used to have. I suspect the lake will start filling soon enough.
S10, I have been around a good while—-just on and off in recent years with wrapping up the working life and helping my parents through some rough health issues. My mom has mended, but my dad is in very difficult health and confined to a nursing home. Visiting was shut down over the weekend due to this virus mess so that makes life quite cruddy. I am hoping to give him the chance to eat some crappies again. Ice fishing didn’t happen this year so a fresh spring catch is needed to make that happen. Here’s to that opportunity to come soon.

Go to the Hartford access area just off 846 and do some shore fishing. Not catching bucket fulls but enough to make a nice meal. Minnows under bobbers are getting them for me. Was good eating some fresh fish after this sorry winter.

Nice catch Smitty including those perch. Glad you got out for some fresh fish. I have shore fished that area a few times with some success at higher water levels. I walked across the bridge once to fish the west side and got the willies with the cars blazing past. They don’t give an inch. Looks like a good opportunity for some fish though. I have a few of my own medical appointments in the age 50+ world this week so I will hope to wet a line soon.

No not yet. With my mom just passing, it has messed up plans. But soon enough, it will happen. Gonna get the boat ready though.

    GFT, prayers for you parents.

Where my mother was at Saint Paul's, they have just went to closing visitation also, unless the person isn't expected to live, then the family is allowed in, but checked before doing so.

Parker's Landing would be good too. Can't remember the name, but if you turn off coming north from Hermitage, just after the causeway. Go out to the second crossroad, turn right, and go down to a parking lot on left. The river runs along the bank there, so it is a little deeper water.

Thank you S10. Getting older has its challenges. This virus multiplies it significantly. I hope we can contain it as best possible. Fishing offers a good opportunity to relax. We have fished up in the Parkers area in years gone by. We never launched up there as it looked a tad secluded and was the furthest point from our trek up from Beaver County.
