These last four winters have made me sorry that I put my boat in storage. Winter has been getting progressively milder over these years in our area here in NW PA. Even the snow has been missing us here in SW Mercer county area. That’s not bad but we need colder temps to be able to ice fish. I’m not comfortable sitting on 2 to 3 inch ice although some guys are. Still have a chance yet to get some decent ice this February. I’ll fish if we get 4. Nothing less tho.

I dearly love to ice fish but I won't fish until the ice is 4in,preferably 6. We are quickly losing our window for ice. I can only hope for safe ice but I'm starting to get ready for spring. I hope the rodent is right.

I can remember ice fishing before rifle buck season was over more then one year. Also my strikemaster auger handle was fairly close to the ice before I cut through. Even after moving to a warmer part of pa(south of Harrisburg) we got plenty of ice. Whether you believe in global warming or not our winters are not winters as years ago.

This has been one strange winter - some folks are predicting a fairly wet summer. My patch of the Neshaminy Creek is looking VERY fishable lately. Normally right now the water is very dark looking from the dead bottom vegetation that hasn’t been scoured by the spring high waters, but right now I see a normal brown bottom and very wadeable. On a warm afternoon I might have to try a Trout Slayer Mini craw and see if anyone is hungry!

I've been thinking the same thing about the Clarion River. Might have to get the boat out and try for some walleye before the season closes.
