Stopped by Sayers Lake (Bald Eagle State Park, Centre County) and saw three guys ice fishing. I asked them about the thickness and they told me that deeper into the Hunter's Run 'cut' it was 3 to 3-1/2 inches. They weren't having much luck. They said that farther toward the lake the ice thinned to about 2". Then they pointed out a spot where the ice was pretty rough and said it was where someone fell in earlier in the week... fortunately, they were able to get him out.

The upcoming rain will make this unsafe until we get back to colder weather. I'm looking forward to January as the long-range forecast is for some good cold nights after the holidays, but until then please stay safe!!!
