    Default Catching tyrout

So I left a message, and questions at the Pa Fish & Boat Commission. Here is what I found out.

    Keith

Shenango Lake is not “stocked trout waters” For any Angler to keep a trout in any body of water, the Angler must possess a valid trout permit. If an Angler fishes in “stocked trout waters” he/she must possess a valid trout permit. If any angler catches a trout in Shenango Lake and does not possess a valid trout permit he must immediately release it. It is not a violation if the trout is immediately released. As for the location where trout are stocked that is decided by the Bureau of Fisheries.

    Thank you

Comments: When fishing Shenango Lake, what happens if you catch a trout, in the lake? Can a person keep it without getting fined? In my opinion, you are stocking the trout, in the wrong part, of the river, and believe you should rethink it. If you stocked them starting at Wasser Bridge, down thru to Hamburg, would be better, and they wouldn't get into the lake portion. The Shenango River Watchers, have a path cleared out thru that section, don't they? Just seems to be a better way to go. Those of us who don't fish for trout, don't want to have to purchase a trout license, if you end up going that route, because of what is happening. Know of a guy, who just this week, caught a rainbow trout, in the lake, but he put it back, because of not having a trout license.

Cool, what was his response? From Big Bend to where it enters the lake, it is about a quarter mile away. So that trout didn't travel very far. Bet though, that some will catch them in the lake, and not put them back.

Musky & pike probably suck them up quick. Used to watch the musky circling them up then make a slash pass thru the bunch. That was on the branch West Branch of Tionesta Creek. Sort of like shrimp night at The Golden Corral. Just a waste.

Yes, it is on the other side. Guess I assumed you were on the other end, when you showed the trout. Gees, so how would one get on that side.
