the big question ! did you throw it back ?
Been fishing off/on at Watts Bar Lake (East Tenn) for about that long, if not longer, and caught a Rainbow Trout back in a cove (years ago). I just wondered what the heck that dude was doing that far down river
I did put it back, as I had no Trout license for Tenn waters.

Amazing considering the fish was probably stocked in Little Shenango.
When we had the Meet and Greet, this past Saturday, didn't I say that catching one in the lake would happen. Chaunc, you did the right thing for now, but we need the PA Fish and Game Commission to clarify this exact thing for us.
They started stocking trout, in the Shenango River last fall. From the bridge in Hamburg, down to Big Bend, at the bridge. So no Mchech, it isn't from the Little Shenango. Trout used to be stocked below the dam, in the river. Reason for change, is because there is too high of a PCB in the river now. SO last fall they changed it.
See the problem is, that the trout can swim down into the lake, unimpeded. I have ran my boat up into the river before up past Big Bend, until the water level gets too shallow. The neighbors and us have canoed from the Covered Bridge, down to big Bend before, so I know the river well enough, to know what they should have done. The Shenango River Watchers have been working on a trail, that you can walk, and in places ride bikes, from the dam area, all the way to The Little Shenango up to Pymatuning.
I don't want to see this keep happening, for anyone fishing Shenango, could end up having to buy a trout stamp to fish it. They should have stocked them instead, between Wasser Bridge Road, and the Covered Bridge area. Then if they did get on down stream, it would only be because of a high water level from rain storms, other wise they would be in just one area, and not running into the lake.
Keith, I know nothing about the area you’re talking about. That fish had to have swam a mighty long way to get to where I caught it, unless some bonehead put it there purposely. I headed back to that area with plans to do battle with the pike that took my lunch money that day, but there was a boat sitting in the spot already. I headed to a different spot and put 8 big crappies in the box to bring home. Threw around 20 back. Called it a day at 11.
I hold 2 records on the lake now. First trout and biggest trout.
Keith .. I didn't know they shifted the trout water to the river above the damn. Years ago I had done some trout fishing From above Greenville to Hadley on the Little Shenango. I couldn't think of any other trout water above the dam.
So whats with the big catfish catch? I saw where a PA angler caught a new record but I couldn't get any details as to where or how.
Arrgh sorry
