    Default The Nock

    Hello All,

    Just joined up here.

Can anyone give me any insight to what the crappie fishing is like @ Lake Nockamixon?
Wasn’t able to find much on asearch of the site.
In a couple weeks I’ll be taking my 6 yr old nephew fishing for the first time & worlds best uncle reputation is on the line. I’m actually just getting back into fishing myself after 35 yrs

    Thanks Dave

Welcome Dave. Live on the west side, so don't know about that lake. Hopefully some others will chime in.

Hi Dave. I live in the Poconos, not too far from the Nock (about 1.5 hours away). Have been threatening going to the Nock for awhile. I'm thinking the crappie fishing would be good. Being summer, I would go late afternoon and not expect the crappie to start biting until just before dusk. Myself, for the distance I'll wait until fall and be able to fish all day. Let us know how you make out. Pop

Not a lot of big crappie at Nockamixon from what I have found, but there sure are plenty of fish. Between the pilings under the Heacock Bridge is almost always a sure thing. Lots of lily pads on the lake that hold the fish shallow, but my preferred way to catch them is to locate some type of wood along shoreline channel swings. Crappie can retreat to deeper water when they are inactive and then come up near the top of the break when they get hungry. They are chasing white/chartreuse 2" grubs on an 1/8oz jighead slow rolled just above the bottom. Good luck!
