Well you tried. Saw yesterday that Easter weekend isn't going to be too nice either.
Fished this morning for 3 hours and nothing. Water level is rising. With the rain coming the next few days the water level should be high enough that shore fishing will be pretty hard to do. Still some ice on parts of the lake. Looks like it may be close to Easter before we get any kind of substainable bite if than. Long range forecast aren't looking to promising with highs in upper 40's--- 50's and lows in the 30's. Water temp 37 degrees.

What a difference a day makes. Bite was good and strong this morning. Caught fish for 4 straight hours. Landed 32 and missed quite a few runs. They would bite only when the wind blew, once it settled down they stopped biting. 4 foot down over 6-9 foot drop off. A few you could call keepers but most were in the 7-10 inch range. All were males.
Were they white or black crappies?
Congrats on your catch
Sparkie, good job. I was by the lake today, and saw all the ice is gone. I think they will be putting in the docks next week. Seen the commission boat is sitting at the campground area.
Should have a pretty good weekend if the wind isn't too bad.
Had a real good day this morning. Fished when the lake was like glass and could only manage a few small guys. Once the wind started up they turned on like crazy. All were caught on a 1/8 white head with green tail. Fish were stacked up along a drop off that went from 6-12 feet. The smaller ones were on top of the bar and the big guys were hanging on the lee ward side of the sand bar. Brought home 22 with 3 over 15 inches. Rest were over 12 inches. Maybe another 15-20 small ones. Had to back troll to get them. I just kept the jig right above the bottom, any higher and they wouldn't hit. Just a slow back troll just enough to trigger the hits. Most of the hits were very light. The pole bent slowly with no hard jerks, drifting didn't produce at all. Could only fish with one pole to maintain the right depth.
Wind became to much for me and came home early. Water still high but falling, this weekend it should be close to normal.
I wouldn't have kept so many but today was my last time out for crappies this year. TIme to target the eyes.
