    Default Keystone Crappie Association

    Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone knows the status of the KCA? I haven't read much about it lately and there doesn't seem to be anything new on the website. Does anyone know if there are any plans for the club in 2006? Thanks.

Zeke, We really haven't done much with the club this winter so far. We (Mike and I) have been concentrating on our icefishing tournaments that have been getting postponed and pushed further back than we would have liked too. These tournaments should have been done a month ago! I know it sounds like excuses but....
As for the club, at the december meeting Mike and I were the only ones to show up. With that said it would seem as though there is no interest in the club. What Mike and I and Big Zig have discussed and are hoping to get off at least one tournament on the east side and one on the west side of the state. To hopefully generate some interest in the club and start a tournament series that will hopefully take off.
I would like to see a show of hands(so to speak) of the people who are still interested in the club and those that are willing to help out. IF there is enough interest we could possibly schedule a get together next month (march) Hopefully to fish, if not, to discuss the direction we as a club would like to go.
I still feel that the club is a good thing and would like to see it grow.
I would like to thank those that have hung in there and look forward to another crappie season.
Again let me know who is interested, post here or pm me.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Zeke,
I did put something on the web site just yesterday. We'd like to have a tournament this year. To do this we'll need help getting it together. I'd also like to know what kind of interest there would be in fishing the tournament. There is a lot to do to get ready. If you have any suggestions on how we could get some feedback on the interest in a tournament I'd appreciate it. What do you think is the best way to get the word out?

    Cool

The internet is probably the best way to get the word out. I'll leave messages with a couple N/E Ohio sites that i visit, once the date is set. I'll also post on the Erie site too. As i told you guys, i dont care to fish tourneys but i'm still a club member thru 06. I still have that scale and i'll help out any other way i can. Just let me know what you need me to do. Good luck in those ice tourneys.

    Hey guys
Hope you get this up and going. I know I had some ill feelings when I started the EBCC. Not much communicating YET. but my site had over 100 hits this week-end and I have got a couple sponsors to come aboard.
    Good Luck

I am not familiar with tournament fishing, so I am not sure what all is involved with putting one together. Personally, I am more interested in just getting together with others who enjoy fishing for crappies and share stories, techniques, camaraderie, etc. But, I would be willing to help with a tourney, if the club decided to hold one. I thought we were off to a decent start in the right direction last year. There was a pretty good turn out at the fish together at Shenango last August and there was an opportunity for everyone to get to know one another. I teased a few of the guys that day about their fishing abilities, but it was all in fun. Hopefully, noone was offended by anything I said. I didn't make it to some of the other meetings, when they were changed to Sundays, because that is a workday for me. It seemed like things were starting to come together for the club. I, for one, am still interested it trying to get it going. I would be willing to help out as much as I can. If we could keep doing some of the good things the club did last year and get rid of some of the negative things, I really believe it would take off. I have some suggestions on possible improvements, but it would be better discussed at a meeting and not on this message board. I met a lot of great KCA members and prospective members last year and I believe if everyone worked together this club could be one that we would be proud to be a part of.

Zeke, I knew it! You asking for everyone's secret spots was going to get us in trouble! just kidding:D
I agree with you about the club, although I did not make it to the fish togethers, I think they are a good thing and Chaunc set the stage as to how they should be put on. A club is only as good as its members and we need members to participate.
I think we should get together in march, second or third week maybe open the new fishing season with a fish together? Any suggestions for a location?

I'm still here and am willing to help out anyway I can as well. I agree with Zeke about continuing the good things and getting rid of the negative things.

March sounds like a good time to do another fish together. I suggest Shenango, Lake Arthur isn't very good that early in the spring.

Jim, i just checked my log books from the last three years and march isn't a very good month on shenango either. Got most fish from shore in the upper n/w area of 846 (hartford shoreline). I could possibly find some fish around the swimbeach area or celery farm but we'd do better farther up lake. Maybe even the 10 hp area. Maybe we can get Zimmy to put us on Wilhelm. We need an area less than 10ft deep, dark bottom, where the water warms up early. Anybody got a lake like that in mind?

Believe it or not but, Crooked Creek is generally good starting in february all the way up to june but, we really can't plan on that lake because they close it all the time. Wilhelm sounds like an idea, I have never been on that lake in a boat before. I have heard that lake is good for crappies at times. I also would not be opposed to going to shenango.
Chaunc, that 10hp area that you spoke of, that is the end that has stumps in it? right? I believe I seen it on a map. That would hold fish for sure as long as we get some warmer temps (which are on the way) and the water warms up a few degrees.
