Wilhelm has been pretty good for me in late March and early April, but I have only fished it from shore that time of year. Never tried it from a boat until mid April or so. The fishing is pretty good from the shore, but you have to fish the upper end from the Marina up to the propagation area. That area is generally pretty shallow and certain parts of it are "unpowered" areas only. Rowboats and canoes are used in those areas. If you all would consider doing some shore fishing Wilhelm might be a possibility.

    Bob,
Crooked Creek is the one over by Ford City correct? I've never fished there or Wilhelm, so I am game for anything.

    Chaunc,
Thanks for the input on early spring fishing at Shenango. Sounds like Shenango and Lake Arthur are very similar in the early spring, in that the crappie are spotty at best. I just figured we'd have a better chance of catching the bigger "slabs" at Shenango. I know I could put everyone on some fish at Lake Arthur but can't guarantee any great numbers, but if you guys want to go there we could do that.

    Zeke,
I picked up two of the inflata-belts at the new Sportsmans Warehouse and they matched Bass Pros price for me. Now I don't have to borrow my buddies when I go to Shenango.

Doesn't matter to me where we go, I'm just itchin' to get the boat out on the water and try out some of my new toys. :D

Deep V, you are correct. Like I said before, it is tough to plan for this lake because they close it when it gets high. So if we get a lot of rain it will wash out the fish together.
If you guys want to go there we can give it a shot. Hopefully others will see this and contribute.

    deep-v,
Where is the Sportsmans Warehouse? In the last Bass Pro I noticed they had raised their price a little on their belts. I would like to get a couple myself before boating season gets into full swing.

The Sportsmans Warehouse is located just off of the Camp Horne exit of 279S. If you are traveling south on 79, stay to left at the 279/79 split and get off at the Camp Horne exit. Turn left at the light. Go straight through the first light, make a left at the second light. Go to the next red light and make a right. At the top of the hill you will see the Sportsman's Warehouse store. It's only been open for a couple of months.

Oh one other thing. The blue belts are still $49.99 on the Bass Pro website. They are only $59.99 in the new catalog. Print the page off of their website and take it down with you (I will post a link for you). The only person there that can give you the price adjustment is the manager of the fishing department, so I called ahead of time to see when he would be there and went down when he was. I also have a couple of $10 gift certificates for the Sportsmans Warehouse that you are more than welcome to use. If you do it right you can get the Bass Pro price minus the $10 for the certificate and if you use cash, you could do two seperate orders and use two certificates, and would be able to save $20. I had to do one order for mine so I only saved $10, but it was still better than nothing.

Here is the link to the belts on Bass Pro:

    deep-v,
Thanks for the info on the belts. I guess the ones that went up on price were the camo models. I thought they were around $54 last summer and then towards the end of the year they went up to $59.99 or so. I was thinking about the camo model so that I could wear it while duck hunting too. Thanks again. BTW, are you keeping everyone straight on huntingpa?

On the Bass Pro website, the navy belts are $49.99 and the camo'd belts are $59.99. However in the 2006 Bass Pro Angler's Catalog, the navy belts are $59.99 and the camo'd belts are $69.99. That is why I said to print that page that I linked to, so that you could get a price match on the cheaper price. Why they are different on the website versus the new catalog is beyond me.

I can't remember what the prices were last year, so you may be right about the $54.99 on the camo'd ones. Seems to me that the navy ones were $39.99. I will see if I still have my 2005 Anglers Catalog and see what they were.

BTW, are you keeping everyone straight on huntingpa?
    Yep, still hangin' in there.

Let me know if you want a couple of these $10 gift certificates, I will mail them to you. Just pm me your address and I will send you a couple. I have 5 left, they expire 04/30/2006 and we won't use them all, and I'd hate to see them go to waste.

    Hey Folks--
I had written in a few months ago and now I see that you're looking to see who's still interested. Well, I would be. My kids and I have been doing shore fishing for panfish, since we don't have a boat, but having a great time.

I also don't know what's involved with a tournament, but might be able to help in some ways. I'm in Delta, PA (1/2 hour east of Shrewsbury I-83 exit 4), so only east sites like Lake Redman would work for me.

I did see another group that was having a pro-style bass tournament as well as a fish-for-fun tournament for the less serious/family anglers like me. Maybe this is something to consider?
