    Default Bream life cycle

Can someone explain the bream life cycle. I keep reading about moons, bedding, etc.

When is the prime time to target bream/bluegill? Is bedding a monthly , quarterly event?

    Thanks

Bedding occurs around the full moon of every warm month. Once the water temp hits around 67, you can start looking for spawning bream. Here in Georgia, the spawn usually starts in May and continues until August or September. Shellcrackers spawn a little earlier in the year.

I usually don't focus on spawning bream, though. The fish are still there the rest of the year and are pretty much ignored by other fishermen at those times.

    Default earley bed fishing

i caught these chinks on dragon nymph, and sinking spider,on the 31st of march . they where all males, these fish where cruising the beds ,you can see them boil from time to time,it just takes time and patience fishing the beds early, the bite is almost always slow.

I always hear the first full moon in May starts the first bedding cycle, with smaller spawns occurring throughout the summer. I think you had better be fishing now in TX!

Here in MO, you couldn't ask for better timing than to have the first full moon this late in the month. this is about perfect.

I find the biggest males spawn first. Subsequent spawns are typically a bit smaller fish. At least if the bigger males are caught off the beds, smaller ones take their place.
