hm never heard of anything like it but maybe you could put some styrofoam on your line right by the hook?
been wondering about this for awhile.... anybody know how to make a cricket float on top of the water while fishing? throw a handful of crickets on top of the water and 9 out of 10 never see the light of day again. that's why i was wondering if anyone had devised a rig that would allow the cricket to float on top of the water while the hook rested underneath (not through the cricket--that would kill it).... i once heard of an old timer that had made up a homemade rig that allowed crickets to twitch and swim on top. i hope someone can help.

If you use a #10 hook and run it in on the bottom just under the head and leave point inside the abdoman of the cricket, it will not kill it. If you place a bobber about 18 inches up with split shot right against the bobber, the cricket will float. Be sure to cast VERY lightly or use a cane pole and make sure to have no larger than 4# test line.
