Default Wind , how do you cope ?

I had planned on fishing a couple hours this morning, but while I was eating my breakfast, I could hear the wind blowing out side .
When I can hear it outside , I know it’s too much for jig fishing with light jigs and light line .
Checked the weather on my phone and confirmed 12-25mph .
This was the first day of a welcomed cooling off a little . I was so looking forward to going .
It was in the mid 60’s this morning.

How much wind is too much for you to go ?

I thought about going back to my float fishing on windy days , but the last few times I wasn’t successful.

I’m kinda addicted to jig fishing , particularly twitching . But I will swim a jig sometimes.

So , I’m about to sit and read a book for a few hours , and listen to the wind blow outside .
Wondering what others did to cope with the wind ?

PS . The wind is supposed to subside a little this evening, maybe I can get away for a little fishing , if it does slack off .

I usually just don’t go. But I dealt with that yesterday and caught a lot of fish. I stuck with my twitching method and it paid off. Had the dreaded bow in the line so bad many times you couldn’t feel the jig head. But you could feel when a fish hit. I’m convinced the Saq Sas jig heads I use really helped me out. Those hooks are needle sharp. I don’t think I would’ve caught many fish without that jig head. But I admit I hate the wind. Going back up tomorrow as wind forecast is only 5MPH.

    Regards

Wind can take all of the fun out of fishing, whether it's from the bank or in a boat.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

    I agree 100% .
That’s a big reason my boat sits in the garage and I bank fish more these days .
Nothing more frustrating than trying to fish and control the trolling motor at the same time when the wind is blowing.

When it's windy it certainly changes how I fish. I fish areas where wind is blowing into the bank and cast into the wind and keep rod tip low to the water so line doesn't bow as bad. Wind concentrates food in that area and usually find some active fish. Weighted floats help slow down the speed on windy days. I use 3/4" round weighted floats mostly .

I got up this morning and the wind is reported to be 9-18 .
When I was loading up, it seems closer to the 18 than the 9’. .
Going to give it a try , maybe it’ll die down some .

I’m hoping you got away with it for a little while anyway. I’ve loaded up and driven to the ramp to turn around a few times. Sometimes a little heavier jighead helps but I tend to lose more of those. The braid helps me feel things up to a point but it still blows around a lot.
