    Default Moon phases

Next Friday, 6/21, is the strawberry moon and I need to decide if I should enter the dog house by bailing on some “mandatory” obligations.

this year I’ve noticed a rapid decline in size of fish, bluegill, from April till now but not the quantity still catching fish on beds consistently just not big ones.

does a new group of fish come into spawn on each different moon cycle?

my research and experience come up mixed.

    any and all opinions appreciated.

My experience at least on the lakes I fish here in Ga. is yes there are a new round of spawners as the cycle progressives but YES they do get smaller. That being said there are exceptions with, the occasional where did you come from fish, but overall size goes down and I FIRMLY believe same with crappie in that the biggest go 1st. I catch my biggest Bream, shellcracker and bluegill around the full moon April and see a few big fish that move up but don't spawn on the full moon in March. Scott

Look out deeper the hotter it gets for the bigger fish!

    Default Moon phases

As long as the moon is up at night and not up while fishing. But If you are talking fish on the beds . It won’t matter much. Also you must be up north the spawn has been going for 2 months or more here in the south

if you removed the last batch that came to the beds , then it would seem pretty fair to suggest the next ones are not the ones that were there the first time ......
all kidding aside , it might be more of an older fish did it first thing and the smaller fish are taking a turn this go ? maybe ....

No I’m in FLA on Lake George and have been getting them on beds since end of April I am just noticing they are getting smaller and am interested to see if a new batch of big ones come in during the next full moon.

It’s my understanding, the majority of the bigger fish spawn earliest .
Over the years I’ve noticed Redears spawn about a month before bluegills .
The the larger bluegill followed by the smaller ones.
I’ve seen active beds during late summer, but they were all small fish .
I think green sunfish spawn almost all year long .
