Those are huge !
That big male is a stud. SOCAL has some very big bluegill. I've heard of 25 bluegill weighing 50 lbs. in some lakes. My biggest gill was 12" and caught it at Lake Perris.
GOLLY what a huge GILL ! KABOOM is the word
Kaboom Ketchn my friend. Really nice catch for sure.
I get some nice ones but have a hard time getting any over 10”. Over 12” is like the holy grail!
sounds like another great day:ThumbsUp
Wow, BFF. This is my first time seeing a bluegill longer than a foot! [emoji106]

It's a very under presured resource. When they raised the dam 117ft, it flooded all the chaparral growing on the hillsides, then the quagga mussels starting to attach to the plants, its nasty.
People go home licking the wounds, losing tackle.
Choosing not to fish there,I found it a challenge and had to find a way.
It was info here that I started looking at slip corking, finding the depth of the trees etc. And setup a foot or two above them.
It's not ultra light fishing that I wish, I fish 6lb and light wire hooks that will bend and open up.
The light crowds let me explore more spots.
