    Default A Few Fish

My buddy from Heber Springs called and asked would I like to go back to Bald Knob Lake today....of course the answer was yes. Long story short I only caught a few bluegill and shell cracker. I used the Lunakia 63 paired up with a Zenon 2000SH spooled with Varivas Twitch Master in 3# test. The lure was a Sow bug colored Trout Magnet on a Daiwa Gekkabijin 1.5 gram jig head with a #6 hook. I also caught lot of crappie in the 9-10 inch range. Had a lot of fun and also learned a lot about the lake. While there are some good bluegill and shell-cracker in there, it does not hold the population it should. We have now scanned the whole lake...all 217 acres. It holds a total of 12 bluegill bedding areas. The biggest bed was about 90 saucers...the others were anywhere from 6 to 35 saucers. A lake this size and age..over 60 years old...should have a lot more bluegill beds in it than this. It is only 8 mies from the house and I will certainly continue to fish it but need to find other places.
