    Default First fish, first adventure

Caught 4 gills today. 7.5"-8.5". Made a poor cast and got slammed by a good fish. Broke me off and swamoff with my Rocket bobber. 200 yards up and down the shore. Just could not catch up with it. Snagged the line once and felt the fight again, but slid off. Ended up over my boots in some muskrat runs. Good times.

First fish is always fun, eh? Caught them on my hand tie jigs with Slabsauce, Slabinator scent sticks, and homegrown redworms.

    My kind of day .
Love hooking those big ones on ultralight even if they manage to get away.

That’s a good amount of fish, especially if it’s been a while. Sorry you didn't get to see what the mystery fish was. I was able to identify but lost two big largemouth a few weeks back. Never had any kind of control of either of them. I could’ve put a softball in the second ones mouth. Glad you got out and found a few, it’s always good for a smile.
