Oh yeah! That is one tight zone to put it in. You definitely need a rod with backbone and heavier line for that situation.

AND EVERY single one of them in one big ole snarly root ball up under two ancient live oaks in the lake .....
red ear and bluegill boy fish in numbers all nestled up in the tangles yesterday.
kinda odd for all of them to be packed up in there like that , was pretty amazing to rip about 40 of them out of there one after another ....
2 to 4 foot of water and right up in it , 2 foot away no bites ....
a few female fish too in the mix ....
hit the target zone with the drop and bite right off the bat ....go figure
sure bent the rods well and pulled extra hard ,,,,fun stuff no doubt
you a panfish person it don't git much better ....
KABOOM is the word ....
1/32 handties ,a tiny pc a worm under a float and hang on tight to the rod when you set the hook , they will dive up under all that root ball and hang you up in it

That's a honey hole. Looks like some hybrid redear which happens when both species hang around together at the stump. Some fatties there for sure.
