    Default Short Trip Rare Catch


    There’s a lake about eight minutes away from the salon where my wife gets her monthly hair trim .
    I drop her off and usually have 30-40 minutes to fish while I wait .
    On my first cast today I caught a nice little bass that gave me a good fight on my 6’ TFO Ultralight Panfish rod , Daiwa Fuego LT 1000d , spooled up with 3# P-line .
    About fifteen minutes later I hooked into a nice chain pickerel . My personal best on ultralight.
    I was glad I had 3# on today instead of my usual 2# .
    The bass , caught off the boat ramp , kept trying to get under the docks and luckily the pickerel was hook just on the edge of the lip . Both worthy ultralight battles.
    A guy came over after both catches to see what I was using and was surprised to see that I caught them on a little jig , a brown Trout Magnet .
    He said he’d been throwing a roostertail for two hours and hadn’t had a bite .
    It amazes me what the TM will catch .

    I think a little slow Trout magnet is comparable to us walking by a Hershey kiss. Hard to resist…lol

    That’s a good pick! They love spinnerbaits and I used to get them pretty regular in some of the grassy lakes a few miles from the house here. Way better than playing with the phone while sitting in the car. Good trip Mister.
