    You must have some sunfish species that have good coloration. I'm not sure of the species in the first picture.

    the pointy nose and forked tail are the best trademarks on that fish and then knowing what swims in the area helps too ...

    That’s why I post the pics of the redbreasts I sometimes get. They hit with a fury like no other for their size.

    Always heard red breasts won't get the deep red accept in running water. Don't know for sure but that has been my experience in catching them. Scott

    That is running water in there , they just never look red here , wonder if they are actually a different species?

    Got me on that. I spent most of my life thinking there were only a couple of different bream species. Found out through this site and a few others that there are a whole lot of different one's that I used to group together. Still can't identify most just know there are a bunch. Growing up as a kid it was blue gill, red breast and shell cracker and a couple of odd balls that we called some nick name or other. I doubt if there are many that could identify the 25-30 different species ( just guessing ) out there. Scott
