Some nice catches for sure
Temps got down below freezing last night after a too cold and windy day yesterday to go fishing .
The Sun was out today but with a temp in the upper 40’s and windy. 9mph with gusts to 19 .
But still better than yesterday.
So I waited until after noon and headed to the pond . I didn’t expect to catch much with last nights cold temps .
For the first half hour I threw a couple of in-line spinners I put together last night , but nothing went for them .
Spinners have to be retrieved at a speed to keep the blade turning and off the bottom , which I felt was too fast for the fish dealing with the cold water .
I switched over to a 1/32 jig and Sowbug Trout Magnet and on the second cast , caught my first fish of the day . A bass .
In the next hour I hooked six more bass and landed four total .
The TM seems to be a good cold water bait lately.
These are the three best , all caught on my 5’6” Daiwa Trout X UL paired with a Daiwa Legalis LT 1000d spooled with 6# Daiwa J8 Braid and a 4# Flouroclear leader .
This combo seemed perfect for fishing today . I’m beginning to like the Daiwa braid , with the braid and a 4# leader I’m able to lift and swing most of the small bass up the high bank on the dam side of the pond .
The wind not only made it tough fishing , but when I fished the shaded dam side of the pond , my hands got cold , even with my fingerless polar fleece gloves .
But it was worth it to get out.
Some nice catches for sure

Those are nice bass, I’d be happy having caught them. I expected a couple yesterday but they never showed up. Glad you got out and keep the cabin fever at bay.

You always post some nice fish to give inspiration, gill. Helps keep me going up here in the cold NE.
Thanks,

I went back to the Town Pond this morning for a couple hours .
Weather was nice , low fifties, partly cloudy , with just an occasional breeze.
I took my 6’ St Croix Panfish , paired with a Daiwa Revros LT 1000s , shallow spool reel. , loaded with Daiwa J8 6# braid in chartreuse, with a 4# P-Line leader .
Today I fished Trout Magnets starting with a salmon color , with no luck , I switched to bison and caught one bass . But when I switched to Sowbug with the tail dyed chartreuse, my bites went up .
I caught six bass total, and one small bluegill .
Four of the better bass .
