Just love those spur-of-the-moment trips. Usually they turn out pretty good too. Congrats.

Bob, that lizard was just over 5’ or so, but his bigger cousin that also lives back there is twice that size. Ive never had one be aggressive towards me, and have had some close up experiences. When they’re mating is when they rumble in the smaller waters sometimes and it’s awesome to hear. There’s something on YouTube about gator rain or something like that and it shows the water on their back jumping up and down while they rumble, pretty cool. I’ve water ski’d the river and fallen with one in sight and they never even went underwater. They’re lazy and want easy food. Most of the bad experiences come from people going where they shouldn’t , or getting too close and pressuring them. Now they’ll eat a dog in a heartbeat, that’s food. A small child would be the same thing. My wife says they have no soul and I don’t disagree with her. I know they’re there and respect their area but I’m not apprehensive about them.

Thanks for all the good replies folks, it sure was fun.

Correction, the video I spoke of is called “ Alligators showing off for mating season “ produced by the BBC. It’s worth a look.

I’m with ya Ketchn. I never trust any reptile. Like my wife says, they have no soul.

Missed this post some how. Talk about relaxing. It sure does look nice and peaceful and the colors on those crappie and that redbreast are stunning. Looked like a fun trip. I’m going to have to get on some fish soon myself.
