My preferred line is the Varivas Infinity PE X8…which is a braided line. I use a leader…get great hook sets and extreme sensitivity….great casting distance. It’s easy to see also. Expensive line but in my opinion is worth it.

Area Super Trout INFINITY PE X8 - VARIVAS

    Regards

Majority of the time I use 10lb vi vis Berkeley or stren mono. Spin cast reel and 6ft rod or
as a leader in front of braid on 12 and 14 ft jig poles. I mostly fish stained southern waters.

Except 6 or 8 lb tst. I've got no finesse.

But it's the 5% I worry about. j/k, but you're right, the fish don't know line from anything. Chances are they see clear line too, as small as are are. Line prolly looks the size of rope to them.
