There's an aluminum mold shape I cast named by the mold company Mo Magic - the one on the top.

For some reason I thought to attach the body of the MM grub using a flame to melt the end to the body of a curl tail grub with tail cut off. (The process was described in a recent post about wacky-rigged lures.) Kinda looks like a light bulb don't ya think?

The lure shape produces a waddle in the water similar to a Zara Spook when twitched with the rod tip. Man did it catch fish!

Even the thicker bulb tail did well (the tail dipped once in hot plastic):

Kinda looks like a soft plastic version of a Mop fly. The mop fly has the same waddle action.

Color important? Only if you think it is. In my case, if I catch fish on a lure in certain colors, those colors become my go-to colorsfor that lure and much of the time for many others. I wasn't sure using a clear plastic for the bulbs could catch fish, but your comments show support of the rule that: action matters!

When it comes to action, shape and color, the three are contrasts-to-nature immediately detected by fish. Whether or not the three, in combination, provoke fish to strike, time will tell. Good thing the waddle does !
