    Default Change-up=Shellcracker

The four hours of standing , flycasting yesterday worn this old man out .
So, this morning, the desire to fish was there , but I needed to change my approach.
I rigged up one of my ultralight spinners , a 5’ Rosewood paired with a Kastking Zephyr finesse reel .
I swapped out the 2# P-line for some 2# SOS because it breaks around 3# and the pond is surrounded with grass right now .
    I should have gone with 4# .
I took my Browning camp stool and the plan was to sit and the fish float n fly for about an hour .
I took about fifteen minutes of casting to hookup with a small LM that jumped and threw the hook . A start .
A few minutes later the 3/4” weighted orange foam bobber disappeared and I was into something that wanted to put up a pretty good fight but didn’t want to jump.
Once I got it next the grass border , I tried to slide it up the grass and half way up my line snapped and I had to crawl down the bank in knee high thick grass to get the fish .
Turned out to be a nice shellcracker.
Took a pic ,released , and retied my micro 1/80th woolybooger jig .
About ten minutes later I caught another that I was able to slide up the bank even though it was a little bit bigger than the other l
Finished up my planned hour without another nibble .
When I got home I respooled the reel with 4# P-line and put it on a Daiwa 7’ Procyon UL rod .
I prefer fishing with a shorter rod , but with the conditions at the town pond right now, the 4# line and the 7 foot rod will be a better tool for the job next time I want to sit and fish the float n fly .

Those are so much fun to catch. Beautiful crackers. Fishing is a great gift from the Lord, I believe.

    Verrrrrrrrrry niiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

The shellcracker is my favorite fish to catch, hands down. The king of the bream. IMO
