    Default UL Fly Rod adventure

I planned on meeting up with my fishing buddy at a boat ramp located on White Oak creek , that connects to the Flint River .
We were going to fish the area around the ramp .
I got there first and found the creek low , muddy , and had foam patches floating all over it .
After a few non productive casts , I texted my fishing buddy and switched locations to Lake Meriweather , county water reservoir that has some bank fishing opportunities.
It has a $3 daily fee that you just put in a drop box .
I met up with my buddy and I started out with a dry fly . Normally I’d start off with a rubber legged spider, but already had the dry fly on .
My buddy starting off with a spider , quickly caught five small gills before I caught my first one .
Meanwhile, I experimented with some different flies .
We changed from the far side of of the lake to the area around the boat ramp and I was able to get into some nice gills on my St Croix Imperial 6’ 2wt .
I was fishing off a dock and a couple made me wish I had some kind of net to pick them up . Put a nice bend in the two weight .
The last few I caught using an Aventik 2wt 6’ rod .
Some nice colored gills coming out of clear waters .

Wow! That had to be a blast on a 2wt., and those are some good size ones. That was a good move.

I left out the the totals for the day , I caught 19 , my buddy caught 25 .
First time he’s beat me in total fish in a long time .
That’s ok , I had quality fish in my catch .

You had a good day! I’ve had to jump spots recently myself, and it worked for me too. Glad you guys found some that made you smile. That third pic showed a nice one with studly tendencies. Worn out today, maybe a short trip tomorrow.
