I use them all the time for trolling. There are several designs, and while each has that same tail design, the plastic materials are different and the thicknesses are different.
Slabanator has a thicker more firm and durable tail, and come in several sizes.
Charlie Brewer has a thin whispy tail.
Strike King has a thin whispy tail.
As noted above, a thin tail will waggle more, but can be more easily removed. I feel they all benefit from a short shank hook, which allows for more freedom of the grub body to also move. They look good when attached to my home made under spins. Of course these are also popular with the saltwater crowd and come in very large sizes. The largest I use are 3”. They can be rigged three ways. Tail down, tail up, tail sideways. I doubt this makes much difference but it might be something for you to play with.
